A Century of Success for Broncos Basketball

Broncos

Men’s basketball at Santa Clara University has changed a lot in the 100 seasons since the Broncos first hosted a team. That first season consisted of only two games, instead of the typical 29 of a regular season now. The Broncos won the initial game against Alameda High School with a score of 9-7—a far cry from the high-scoring games against tough collegiate competitors currently hosted in the 4,500-seat Leavey Center.

Since that first game in 1905 (a few seasons without a team in the early years and the cancellation of a season during World War II explains the passage of more than 100 years for 100 seasons of play), the Broncos have racked up some impressive statistics: 11 NCAA tournament invites; a dozen All-Americans; a No. 2 national ranking; and 14 players who have moved on to the NBA.

Come watch as the Broncos begin the next century of success. For game and ticket information, visit the team’s official Web site.
