Are you getting excited to move to campus and start your first year at SCU?! In this ninth edition of our Bronco Prep Guide, you’ll find information to prepare you for New Student Move-In on September 18 and Welcome Weekend on September 18-20.

🐴 Move-In & Welcome Weekend
New Student Move-In and Welcome Weekend are right around the corner. Please keep these dates in mind as you plan your trip to SCU!
September 18: Residence hall move-in, welcome ceremony, and social activities
September 18-20: Welcome Weekend
September 21: First day of fall quarter classes
Essential Information:
- Families, guests, and other supporters are encouraged, but not required, to attend move-in and Welcome Weekend activities. Most activities are open to both students and their guests.
- Residence Hall Move-In for new students on September 18 begins at 8:30 AM for the first of three groups, with the second group starting at 10:00 AM and the third at 11:30 AM. Group assignments are based on the student's last name, and more information will be sent to students in September.
- Students have a few required student-only sessions to attend, including - but not limited to - RLC Community Conversations on the evening of September 18 (required for students living on campus) and a session on community health and safety on September 20 (required for all students, both on and off campus).
- There are a variety of social activities and receptions on the evenings of September 18, September 19, and September 20.
- Students may use their SCU dining plan to pay for meals beginning September 18. Parents, family members, and guests may purchase breakfast, lunch, and dinner on campus.

🗓️ Early Move-In
Some students will be eligible to move in before the standard move-in date of September 18 and will be notified directly via email.
Please note the following:
- First-year students attending an in-person Orientation session in September will be able to move in the day before their session:
- Early move-in is September 14 for students attending the September 15 Orientation session.
- Early move-in is September 15 for students attending the September 16 Orientation session.
- First-year international students will be approved for early move-in to participate in International Student Welcome. Please consult with the International Students & Scholars office for the exact move-in date.
- First-year students in the LEAD Scholars Program will be approved for early move-in to participate in LEAD Week. Please consult with the LEAD Scholars Program office for the exact move-in date.
- First-year students participating in other programs that require early move-in will also be approved. Please consult with the coordinators of those programs for the exact move-in date.
IMPORTANT: You will receive a confirmation email from the SCU Housing Office in early September with your exact move-in date and time. You do not need to contact the Housing Office to request early move-in. The coordinator of your program has already requested that on your behalf.

👉 ICYMI: Being a Bronco Series
As a new Bronco, you are required to complete the Being a Bronco Series. This six-part series helps incoming students transition to the Santa Clara University (SCU) community. All modules are due by September 7.
- Modules 1-4: Santa Clara University has partnered with Vector Solutions to offer online course modules that educate our community on topics essential to maintaining a safe and healthy campus, while exploring what it means to be a responsible and caring member of the SCU community. All incoming students will receive an email from Vector Solutions at their SCU email address with a login link to get started on the four modules.
- AlcoholEdu for College - launched on August 10
- RespectEdu for College - launched on August 10
- Hazing Awareness and Prevention - launched on August 10
- Mental Well-Being - launched on August 10
- Module 5: This module introduces concepts essential to respectfully and compassionately engaging with members of the SCU community. The asynchronous Camino course, titled the Bronco Belonging Module (BBM), explores concepts of community, values, social identity, and belonging. You will receive an invitation, sent to your SCU email address, to join the Bronco Belonging Module 2026 Camino course.
- Bronco Belonging Module (BBM) - launches on August 17
- Module 6: This module introduces concepts and practices for living sustainably and contributing to SCU's goals and initiatives related to sustainability. The asynchronous course is titled the Sustainability Module. You will receive instructions via email in August on how to complete this module.

A 1999 article titled "Accompaniment and Welcome: The Jesuit Refugee Service and its Pastoral Role" from the Jesuit Curia in Rome provides a deeper analysis of the meaning of accompaniment.
