"The sorrow of Good Friday's sacrifice to the joy of Easter's dawn of victory is a timeless testament to life's journey from despair to hope, from darkness to light, from trial to triumph."

Show your
Get ready to celebrate the festivities at JST-SCU’s Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 10.
This is the day we encourage our on campus and external community to celebrate JST-SCU and help our school continue to be an incredible space for learning and formation!
How can you participate?
CONTRIBUTE any amount that feels comfortable and show how committed we are to our school. All amounts welcomed! Some suggestions???? Donate $10 instead of a café treat or $25 instead of a meal out.
SPREAD THE WORD!! Maybe your family, friends, or community members would like to join our mission in education and formation by donating.
SAY THANK YOU! Stop by Manresa on the 10th and write a thank you note (or a few) and get crafty by making prayer cards for our donors.
JOIN THE FESTIVITIES! Stop by Campania for donuts before morning class, enjoy hotdogs and cheeseburgers for lunch grilled with love by Kevin and Giles, or have an afternoon snack of chips and guacamole.
Donations from 3/25 - 4/10 will be applied to Day of Giving!

Life and Death | 2024 CJS Annual Conference
Thursday, April 11 | 1:00pm-8:00pm | GTU Library
Registration for In-Person | Registration for Livestream
As living creatures, we inhabit the uncertain terrain between life and death, taking part in the constant ebb and flow of life, the coming together and coming apart that is the human condition. How do we inhabit this realm, the realm between solution and dissolution, between birth and breakdown? How do we experience the terrible fragility of being human? What perspectives do we generate that shield us from its implications, and what perspectives draw us more deeply into the vulnerable aspects of life? As mortal beings, how do we grapple with the horrors of war, violence, as well as the ecological crisis unfolding before our eyes?
Please join us for a day of papers and conversation on the very weighty and painful matters of life, death, war and conflict, in the context of Jewish history and the history of Jewish thought.

Testing
With new variants circulating, infections and hospitalizations are back on the rise, testing plays a critical role. COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available from the JST Front Desk.
- Before coming to campus, please test for COVID-19 using an at-home rapid antigen test. If you test positive, please report your test result and observe all isolation protocols and precautions. Do not come to campus if you have tested positive.
- We strongly recommend you test three to five days after arriving on campus.
- Please take a test if:
- you experience symptoms,
- 3-5 days after you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19,
- when you return from traveling, or
- before interacting with vulnerable or high-risk individuals.
Masking: Masks are a simple and effective way to reduce exposure to COVID-19 and other airborne viruses. Although not required in indoor campus locations, masks are highly recommended. In addition, faculty members have the option to require masks in classrooms.
If you are experiencing any illness symptoms we always recommend staying home. If you are testing negative and feel good enough to come to campus we strongly encourage you to wear a mask. If exposed to COVID-19, you do not need to quarantine. Test 3-5 days after your last exposure and wear a mask. If you test negative, consider testing again 48 hours later to confirm a negative result; if experiencing symptoms, test again 48 hours after the second negative test.
Isolation: If you test positive, you must report your positive test result, isolate for at least 5 days and wear a mask through Day 10. Isolation during your infectious period means you may not go to class, work, lab, or other activities. Please notify your professors, supervisors, and close contacts. Faculty have been encouraged to accommodate students who need to isolate.
If you test positive for the flu, RSV, or if you are ill with another respiratory virus, please stay home to help with your recovery and to limit transmission to others.
COVID-19 Dashboard SCU monitors positive cases, virus levels in wastewater, and workplace exposures on campus. Results are shared on our COVID-19 Dashboard.
For questions or additional information on COVID-19, please visit Prepared SCU or email us at covid19@scu.edu.

CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) Short-Term Therapy CAPS continues to offer short-term therapy. The basic steps to getting started in CAPS are outlined below, and the CAPS website has more detailed information on short-term therapy services:
- First Step: Phone consultation. Students can call 408-554-4501 to schedule a phone consultation, which takes 15-25 minutes. During this call, CAPS staff assess if the therapeutic support a student is seeking fits within the short-term therapy model at CAPS. Collaboratively, the therapist and student will determine next steps.
- If short-term therapy is recommended, a CAPS therapist will then reach out to the student to schedule a 50 minute intake appointment via the SCU Health Portal.
- If referral to an off-campus therapist or services is recommended, an appointment with the Cowell Center Clinical Case Manager will be offered to support the referral process.
*Reminder: There are no limits on the number of therapy sessions and no fees at CAPS, but services are designed to be short-term.
Our JST CAPS Liaison, Estrella and Gaurie, will be at JST on February 7th. Come meet them to learn more about this resource!
