Financial Assistance for Students - CRRSAA Fund Update
As mentioned last week, Santa Clara University has been allocated $1.77M in federal funds to disburse directly to students who have exceptional financial needs due to the pandemic. On March 12, Pell Grant and Cal Grant recipients received an email message from the Office of Financial aid informing them they would be receiving a grant from the CRRSAA Fund, with instructions about how to enroll in direct deposit. Beginning March 29, students who are not Pell Grant or Cal Grant recipients can apply for assistance if they have a self-identified hardship need due to the coronavirus. Request forms will be accepted through eCampus until Friday, April 16 at 5 p.m. PST. Such requests will be reviewed, and SCU will divide the remaining amount of CRRSAA funds equally among eligible students who have submitted a valid application. Additional information about this program can be found in the SCU CRRSAA Fund FAQ page.
Learning Commons and Library
Reservable study space will be closed starting at 5 p.m. March 19 through April 4. The library will reopen for reservable study space starting April 5 (after spring term COVID-19 entry testing of campus is complete). The SCU community can continue to access library books and materials through the Library's electronic collections, pick-up service, residential mail delivery, and scanning service. Librarians are available to meet with students virtually for research assistance. Information about University Library services is available on the Library and Learning Commons Services Update page.
Mission Church
An in-person Sunday Mass for students only will be celebrated at 5 p.m. at the Mission Church this coming Sunday, March 21, and on the following Sunday, March 28, which is also Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. Preregistration is required each week for these Masses. Reconciliation will not be available this coming Sunday. Information and registration details about the special Holy Week in-person liturgies on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday may also be found at the Mission Church registration website.
And finally, please remember that we highly discourage travel during spring break, for the continued safety of our community at this time. If you find you must travel, please refer to the CDC guidelines for travel.
Stay safe and well.
