Desmond (Ho-Fu) Lo
Assistant Professor of Marketing
Desmond Lo joined the Santa Clara University Marketing Department in 2008, after receiving his Ph.D. in Business from the University of Michigan where his dissertation explored "The Role and Extent of Economic Rent in Distrbution Channels."
He has taught marketing management and intermediate microeconomics at the collegiate level.
His research interests include contracting in distribution channels, business-to-business markets, sales force compensation and delegation, and vertical restraints and their treatment under antitrust law.
Among his awards and honors are the Dykstra Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research (UMichigan), Student Fellowship from the Olin Center for Law and Economics in the law school at University of Michigan, and a University of California Regents Fellowship at UC Santa Barbara.
He earned his master's in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his bachelor's degree in economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Professor Lo worked as business manager for Home PC for Hewlett Packard in China and for Consumer Digital Imaging for Agfa in China and Hong Kong, as well as managing sales operations in China for Toshiba and LG Electronics.
