2014-15 Peer Advisor Bios


    Sophia Avila is sophomore Accounting and Information Systems major from South San Francisco, California. She is a member of the ACE Leadership Program in the Business School. Sophia is also a student assistant in the library during the school year and a coordinator for conference services in the summer. She enjoys running with the Triathlon Club and participates in intramurals. This is Sophia’s first year as a peer advisor and she is looking forward to meeting the class of 2018.


    Damon Bollens is an Accounting major and Economics minor from Irvine, California. Aside from being a Peer Advisor, Damon is a small group leader in CLC (Christian Life Community) as well as apart of Greek life through the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, exploring the Great Outdoors, attending musical concerts, and volunteering. This is Damon’s first year as a Peer Advisor and he looks forward to helping the incoming freshman become comfortable with both the Business School and life in general at Santa Clara.


    Nick Casaccia is a Junior Finance major and Economics minor from Los Gatos, CA, a town just north of campus. He is a member of the University Honors Program and Leavey Scholars Program at Santa Clara. He has served as a Peer Mentor for the University Honors Program, helping incoming students become acclimated to campus, academic programs, and community aspects. In addition to these programs, Nick served as an Orientation Leader for the Class of 2017, as well as participated on the Men's Crew team his freshman year. He is involved in an off campus fraternity, and in his free time, enjoys surfing, playing beach volleyball, biking, and going on adventures. Nick has an internship with Adobe Systems as a revenue operations intern, and looks forward to developing his professional network and expertise. He is very outgoing and personable, and is excited to welcome our new Broncos to their incredible home!

    Mark Davis is currently a Junior Finance major and MIS minor as well as a co-captain on the NCAA Division 1 men's water polo team at Santa Clara. He has an internship with Adroll in San Francisco for the summer of 2014 and works part time for the Santa Clara University Event Staff throughout the school year. Mark also acts as a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Bronco Leadership panel. He thoroughly enjoys traveling, playing golf, going to beach and watching sports. Upon graduation, he hopes to land a position at a corporate tech company that can provide a challenging and exciting platform for the trajectory of his professional career. He is extremely excited to be an LSB peer advisor for the 2014 school year and hopes to act as a mentor and valuable resource for Freshmen business students as they transition into the Santa Clara lifestyle!


    Tyler Eliel is a Junior Finance major and MIS minor. He is originally from Rolling Hills Estates, a suburb in Los Angeles county. He plays for the ultimate frisbee team here at SCU. He is excited to be a LSB adviser and wants to help make Santa Clara an even better place.


    Brian is a junior from Chicago, Illinois, and is currently an accounting major. On campus, he is on the Men's Club Lacrosse team, works as an Assistant in the Dean's Office, and is an Exam Proctor for the Law School. He is also a member of the ACE Leadership Program. In his free time, Brian enjoys playing sports and loves the outdoors. This is his second year as a Peer Advisor and is excited to work with the incoming class.


    Michael is a junior from Saratoga, CA. He is majoring in Accounting, and in his second year as a Peer Advisor, will be serving as an accounting representative for the program. In his free time, he likes to play basketball and watch TV. Michael is looking forward to working with the incoming freshmen and making the transition into college as seamless as possible.


    My name is David Griffin and I'm going to be a Senior finance major at SCU. I am interning at Heffernan Insurance Brokers in San Francisco this summer. I also currently work on campus for the Club Sports Department doing finance related activities. I am the President of the Men's Ice Hockey Team here at Santa Clara and it is a big part of my life here in college. I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning more about the business school as well as helping out incoming freshmen.


    Chris Harder is a Sophomore Finance major and Economics minor. He loves participating in intramural sports such as flag football and basketball, and can often be seen playing pickup in the Malley gym. To put it lightly, he's a sports fanatic. Originally from Colorado, he also loves the outdoors and enjoys camping and hiking during the summers. Chris has realized how amazing the SCU business program is and is looking forward to helping Freshmen get the most out of it!


    Rohit Kulkarni is a senior Management and Information Systems major with a double minor in Economics and Computer Engineering. He was a peer advisor last year and had such a good experience with the program he wanted to increase his involvement by being a part of the Executive Board. On campus he is involved with Intandesh, the South Asian Cultural club at SCU and is part of the Leavey Scholars Program. In his spare time he enjoys exercising, playing football, and completing home-improvement projects. He is very excited to be spending his last year at SCU on the Executive Board and hopes for yet another successful year with the program.


    Sydney Lorek is a Junior Finance and Economics major with a Public Health minor from Sacramento. She is involved in the Health & Disabilities department of SCCAP (Santa Clara University.) SCCAP is a student-run organization that provides students with the opportunity to volunteer in the greater community of Silicon Valley and advocate for social justice issues. Sydney is also involved with the Delta Gamma sorority. She loves to go to concerts and spend time with friends in San Francisco and Santa Cruz! Sydney hopes to work in hospital administration in the future. Overall, she has had an incredible time at Santa Clara and is so excited to welcome the new freshmen class and build friendships as a Peer Adviser!!

    Kalvin Luo is a Junior Accounting major from Fremont, CA. Over the summer he loves to travel to visit new places as well as learn about different cultures. He is currently the Co-Chair of the Chinese Student Association on campus and is involved in many of the different cultural clubs in the Multicultural Center. He is also a member of Delta Sigma Pi (a professional business fraternity). Kalvin loves to hang out and spend time with friends by playing the guitar, singing, or just plain old chatting. He is someone you can talk to if there is anything troubling you. In the future he hope to work for one of the Big Four accounting companies, and is extremely excited to help the incoming Freshman and welcome them to an amazing school.


    Sarah Madden is a Senior Economics major, from Westchester, New York. In addition to economics, Sarah is also pursuing Entrepreneurship and International Business minors. This year, Sarah is an Arrupe intern at Ocala Middle School in San Jose, and is working on several research projects related to urban farming and food security in Silicon Valley. Sarah is also involved with the Greek community as a member and officer of Alpha Delta Pi. In her free time, Sarah enjoys traveling, hiking, and eating. This is Sarah's first year as a LSB Peer Advisor and she is looking forward to getting to know the Freshmen class and introducing them to the business school!


    My name is Katherine Oslund, I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I will be a sophomore for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year. I am really excited to be a LSB Peer advisor and to become more involved in the business school. Aside from peer advising, I am a member of Ace Leadership program and am active in Delta Gamma sorority. I am looking towards being a finance major and an omis and retail studies double minor. I can't wait to meet the freshman I will be advising!


    Marty Parker is a senior Finance major and Management Information Systems minor from San Diego, California.  He spent the Fall Quarter of his junior year studying abroad in London.  On campus, Marty serves as the Vice President of the Student Finance Association and works in the Dean’s Office of the Law School.  He enjoyed his time as a Peer Advisor during his sophomore year and is looking forward to getting more involved in the Peer Advising program during his senior year by serving on the Executive Board.

    Jon Phan is a Senior Finance major who grew up here in the bay area. He has really enjoyed his time at SCU so far and has participated in a variety of different activities on campus such as his role as a CF, QB for an intramural football team, and culture show director for the Vietnamese Student Association. He loves meeting new people and his hobbies include watching football/hockey, spending time with friends, and trying new things. He is very excited to become a peer advisor for this upcoming year and looks forward to meeting the class of 2018 and doing anything he can to make it a great year for everyone!

    Tom Plata is currently in his third year at Santa Clara and plans to major in both Accounting and Economics. Tom participates in many intramural sports throughout the year and also works at the Drahmann Tutoring Center. He loves spending time outdoors and hanging with friends. Tom wants to land a job in the accounting industry, but is fully focused on his college experience at the moment. He is thrilled to help out the incoming freshman and show them just how awesome SCU is.

    I am Joe Seeger and I am a undeclared Business major as of now. I am from Maryland and went to high school in Washington D.C. I am a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and applying for other jobs on campus for next year. Truly I am excited to work as a peer advisor next year


    Charlene Shiao is a Sophomore Accounting student from Fremont, California. She has an internship with a local private accounting firm called Maier- Richmond Accountancy. In her free time, she loves to play basketball, volleyball, work out, and go shopping. Charlene aspires to work for one of the Big Four accounting firms in the tax field. She is really looking forward to helping out the incoming freshman assimilate into our wonderful SCU community and feel comfortable with SCU's registration process.


    Keyonna is a junior from Oakland, CA. She is majoring in Accounting. In addition to being a Peer Advisor, Keyonna has been a member of the Dean's Leadership Program. Beginning last year, she became the Social Media Director for Her Campus Santa Clara, a member of Igwebuike, and a manager for the SCU Men's Basketball Team. In her free time, Keyonna enjoys making bracelets, listening to music, and meeting new people. This is her first year as a LSB Peer Advisor and she is looking forward to meeting the incoming freshmen and aiding in their transition. She welcomes the class of 2017 to the Leavey School of Business!

    Sabrina Tu is a sophomore double majoring in Finance and Environmental Studies. She is an active member in Into the Wild and SCOOPS (Students Collaborating and Organizing Opportunities and Projects for Sustainability), and volunteers with Kid's Club in SCCAP. Sabrina is also a Peer Educator for an English 1A/2A class. She enjoys adventures of all sorts, especially outdoors, and loves music! She hopes to combine her interest in business and passion in environmental sustainability in the future. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to guide the incoming Freshmen and show them the wonderful opportunities and resources available at this school!


    Kate van Keulen is a Sophomore in the Leavey School of Business. She is currently an undeclared major, but is hoping to declare in either Finance or Marketing soon. As a Bay Area native, Kate enjoys going to school in sunny Silicon Valley and plans to get a job in the area after graduation. Kate plays on the club Field Hockey team here at Santa Clara and loves playing on various intramural teams as well. She likes to hang out with friends and go running in her free time. Kate enjoys every moment here and cannot wait to meet and help the incoming freshmen. She hopes to maintain the wonderful impression she received as a freshman and make it a great year for her advisees.


    Hailing from the beautiful Napa Valley, senior Paula Vildaver is an Accounting major who doubled her minors in International Business and French. She was a Peer Advisor during her sophomore year, and took time off fall quarter of junior year to study abroad in Paris. Now that she's back, she is super excited to be a part of the dynamic 2014-2015 Executive Board! Outside the board room, Paula enjoys exploring new places and restaurants, as well as going to concerts, baking, and tie-dying. But she'll have to save some of those activities for the weekends this summer while she's interning at PwC! Paula can't wait for next fall's opportunity to welcome all the new kids and spend another year with the Peer Advising team.


    Mallory Wahl is a senior Finance major and Information Systems minor from San Diego, CA. This will be her second year serving as a peer advisor after taking a year break while studying abroad in London. She is very excited to be an Executive Board member and be involved in the peer advising program because she feels that it can be a very positive experience for students in the Leavey School of Business. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, photography, hiking, and is a part-time nanny for families in the area. 


    Langston Williams is a rising sophomore from Denver,CO. He is involved with an array of groups on campus including Alpha Kappa Psi-Business Fraternity, Black Student Union, ACE and intramurals. This summer he worked at PricewaterhouseCooper and looks forward to helping this year's freshman acclimate to Santa Clara University.


    Kenzie Williamson is a Junior Finance major from Bellevue, Washington. This pacific northwest native loves doing anything outdoors and goes on a two-week backpacking trip every summer. Her weekends are filled with hiking, slack lining, cooking, and reading. Over the summer she worked at Stanford as a counselor at a business camp because she loves spending time getting to know people and helping them learn. She can’t wait to meet the new freshman class and help foster a smooth transition into life at Santa Clara!

    Walter Yu is a Sophomore Accounting and Information Systems major and a local student. He has an internship at Wrike. Walter is also involved in several on campus clubs such as VSA and APSU. On his free time, Walter enjoys playing sports, such as tennis and basketball and researching about cars. Walter is excited to help the incoming Freshmen and welcome them to the Leavey School of Business.
