Business Senior Awards FAQ's for Families
Who is invited to the ceremony?
Graduating seniors in the ACE and Leavey Scholars programs, the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, and/or graduating seniors receiving a department or Leavey School of Business award, and their families.
Do I need to RSVP for my student?
No, please DO NOT RSVP for your student. He/She received an electronic invitation sent to their email address and needed to respond through that RSVP. We will, however, need your RSVP here »
Do I need to include the names of my guests on the RSVP form?
No, we simply need the total number of guests, including you, in order to accommodate seating for everybody.
Do students wear academic attire to the ceremony?
No, only faculty that walk in the processional wear academic attire.
What should I wear to the ceremony?
Shirts, slacks and a tie for men. A dress, pant suit or skirt and blouse for women. Please consider the weather – it will be very warm during the day, but it does cool off quickly once the sun goes down. Comfortable shoes are also recommended because you will be on the grass for the reception and also walking across campus to the Commencement Liturgy in the Leavey Event Center, should you choose to attend.
Do students sit with their family?
Students will sit together in the front rows of the theatre. The families will sit in the upper and back rows of the theatre.
Do we need tickets for the Awards Ceremony?
Tickets are not required. Please be sure to indicate the # of guests you will be bringing on the RSVP website, so that we may accommodate enough seating for everybody.
Where do we park for the ceremony and reception?
Please drive to the Main SCU Entrance and stop at the Guard Booth, where you will be given a parking permit and directed to park in the Franklin Parking Lots, located near Mayer Theatre. You may also park on Franklin Street.
Will there be food at the reception?
The reception will be a time for you and your family to take photos and enjoy some light refreshments, such as cookies and lemonade. Be sure to RSVP »
Where do we go after the reception?
The university will host the Commencement Liturgy at 4:00 PM in the Leavey Event Center. Students of all faiths and their families are welcome to attend the celebration. It is a time for giving thanks and praise for the gifts given and received while at Santa Clara and for asking a blessing on the graduates and their futures. Immediately following the Commencement Liturgy, the graduates, along with their families and friends, are invited to a reception in their honor in the Mission Gardens.
