We hope that you have had a great Week 2! The Career Center invites you to participate in all we have to offer to support you in your job/internship search and career discernment journey. Check out our virtual and in-person events as well as the self-serve resources on our website and/or make an appointment in Handshake to speak with a Career Coach.

Upcoming Career Center Events- Thursday, 4/18, Wells Fargo Coffee Chat, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Benson Lobby: The Commercial Banking Early Career Development Program is a two-year general analyst program focused on gaining exposure to Commercial Banking through an initial phase of business rotations followed by an immersive experience in a single business. The program will promote professional development and skill acquisition through on- the-job experience as well as formal in- person and virtual training. 

 

 

Upcoming Career Center Preparation Workshops- Monday, 4/15, Interviewing for Impact, 12:00 - 1:00, Williman Room: Are you new to interviewing?  This workshop is meant for students who have little to no experience interviewing for professional internships or jobs after graduation. Effective interviewing takes practice. Don’t wait until the night before your big interview to prepare.  Join us for the first interview workshop this quarter, and gain confidence in your ability to have successful interviews. 

What you can expect from the workshop:

  • Learn about behavioral interviews and using the STAR technique
  • Discover free self-serve tools offered by the Career Center to support your interview success
  • Begin developing and practicing answers to common interview questions during the workshop
  • Walk away with a preparation plan so you ace your upcoming interviews! 

We will provide 1hr of formal content sharing (12-1pm), plus an additional 30 minutes of optional interview practice time (1-1:30pm) with the opportunity to get coaching/feedback from staff members. 

In preparation for the workshop, please:

  • BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP so you can follow along while we show you where to find preparation resources on the Career Center website. Should you have difficulty accessing one, reach out to Noël Kreidler at skreidler@scu.edu ASAP. 

 

 

Thursday, 4/18, Career Advisor Social Hour, Drop by Career Answers/Coaching, 3:30 - 4:30, Lucas Hall Lobby: Are you an undergraduate student looking for an internship?  This Q&A event is Career Advisor Social Hour (CASH) is a casual, drop-by time to have your career-related questions answered: no appointments needed! Bring a friend, or swing by on your own. The Week 3 CASH will be held on Thursday, 04/18/24 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in the Lucas Hall lobby. 

  • Learn about upcoming opportunities to meet with employers.  
  • Have your resume reviewed, learn networking techniques, prepare for your internship/job search.
  • Stop by for a casual chat with Noël Kreidler, Associate Director - Career Development & Campus Integration, Business & Entrepreneurship, to learn more.
  • All career-related questions are welcome!

 

 

Monday, 4/22, How to Find and Excel at Your Internship, 2:00 - 3:00, Zoom: Are you an undergraduate student looking for an internship?  This Q&A event is intended to be a fun and informal way for you to get your career questions answered by 4 of our Peer Career Advisors (Max Campos, Shiv Jhalani, Anna Chen, and Gema Sanchez). In addition to answering your questions, the Peer Career Advisors will also be happy to share advice and insight related to professional development, networking, job search strategies, and other career-related topics.

 

 

Wednesday, 4/24, Resume Workshop: How to Target Your Resume for Your Job Search, 1:30 - 2:30, Career Center Office: Join Lead Peer Career Advisor, Max Campos, from the Career Center for a resume workshop tailored to undergraduate students! Learn the basics of resume formation and expert-recommended rules to craft a standout resume. Get all the help you need with plenty of Q&A time to ensure your resume is ready to submit!

What you can expect:

  • 40 minutes of formal content sharing and workshopping led by Max
  • 20 minutes of Q&A
  • Better understanding of a master resume and how to specify your resume for job applications
