Concerto/Aria Competition announced

The SCU Department of Music and the SCU Orchestra present:

2014-15 Concerto / Aria Competition
Saturday November 8th 2014
SCU Recital Hall

Singers: prepare two arias of contrasting style.
Instrumentalists: prepare one movement of a standard concerto.

All Santa Clara University undergraduate students who will be enrolled in the Fall quarter, 2014, and who are enrolled in private music instruction in the Department of Music are invited to participate. NOTE: a student may not perform as a soloist with the SCU Orchestra in consecutive years. The competition will be adjudicated by off-campus judges. The winning students will be presented at the SCU Orchestra’s Spring 2015 Concert in the Mission Church.

In order to assure that your music is suitable for performance by the SCU Orchestra, Professor John Kennedy must pre-approve your selection. Please do not wait until preparations are well under way before doing this! Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted

Music MUST be provided to your accompanist at least two weeks in advance of the competition, and a second set of music must be provided for the adjudicators on the day of the competition.

Stop by the Music Office to pick up an application.
