Whether you intend to pursue a career in music or simply want to join an ensemble to enhance your liberal arts education, Santa Clara University's Department of Music has much to offer.

For students concentrating their academic studies in music, the Department supports a major and minor program as well as a minor in musical theatre. Mandatory coursework includes training in theory, music history, performance and culture, aural skills, pedagogy, composition, private instruction, and performance. For those interested in joining music as an extracurricular activity, the Department maintains a number of student ensembles, including an orchestra, jazz ensemble, guitar ensemble, and several choirs. Free private lessons are available to all majors and minors and to talented ensemble members by faculty recommendation.

We welcome you to browse the Department's website - which contains information about our curriculum as well as sample media clips from recent student performances - and to contact our faculty and staff with any questions you may have. There is, however, no substitute for a campus visit, at which time you may sit in on a class, attend a concert, and get a comprehensive feel for the University itself. We encourage you to come and meet our distinguished faculty and talented students in person.

For further information about arranging a visit to the Department of Music, please call 408.554.4428.
