Throughout the month of February:

All month long, SCU undergraduate engineering students are volunteering their time at an after-school program for young students at Third Street Community Center in San Jose, where February has been designated Engineering Month.

Alumni Speaker Series - Solar Decathlon

Take a look back at Solar Decathlon history and hear stories about what their time at SCU was like and how their education shaped their future. E-Waste Drive

Americans throw out 300-400 million electronic items per year, but only 20% are properly recycled! Join the SCU Solar Decathlon team in helping keep electronics out of landfills by participating in this year’s e-waste drive. Anything powered by a cord or battery will be recycled safely and sustainably, cleaning up the planet while cleaning out your closet. Download the poster (PDF).

The 49ers Stadium: Structural Design and Construction

The student chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) invites you to this informative talk by engineers from both Devcon Construction, Inc. and Turner Construction Company, working together on construction of the new Santa Clara San Francisco 49ers Stadium. The talk will cover the basic structural design of the 1.85 million sq. ft., $1 billion stadium, including discussions of unique testing and special design considerations for the stadium and its location. All are welcome!

Robots — Can’t They All Just Get Along?

Williman Room, Benson Memorial Center

If one robot is good, is a group of robots great? Professor Christopher Kitts will review work in Santa Clara’s Robotic Systems Laboratory where students build and control robots that operate in land, sea, air, and space. Recent work focusing on challenges and advances in the control of multi-robot systems and their application to real-world problems will be highlighted, including student involvement in experiments ranging from fleets of marine robots to clusters of satellites. All are welcome at this Family Weekend Event.
