Cost of Attendance
At Santa Clara University, we know that cost often affects college choice. That is why we want you to know the total cost of your education at Santa Clara University and understand all your financial aid options for bringing this great opportunity within reach. After all, 72 percent of our undergraduate students receive financial aid, and seventy percent qualify for our SCU-based awards¹.
The Financial Aid Office establishes cost of attendance budgets that are used to determine financial aid eligibility as well as to provide students and their families with a reasonable estimate of the cost of attendance at Santa Clara University. These budgets include allowances for tuition, room and board, books and supplies and other expenses. The Cost of Attendance provides a more accurate and comprehensive picture of what it will cost to attend Santa Clara University. It is also the number we use when we determine how much financial aid you need.
Tuition
The tuition and fee amounts used in the cost of attendance budgets are based on full-time enrollment of 12 or more hours.
Room and Board
The room and board allowance for undergraduate and graduate students living on campus. Other living arrangements (private housing or apartments) may be more or less expensive, so compare the cost of your housing choice to the living expense allowance. Your cost of attendance will not be adjusted for higher room and board or other living costs.
Books and Supplies
Students must purchase their books and supplies. Students should come to Santa Clara University with sufficient funds to buy books, supplies and any other items necessary to begin the quarter, even if the student is expecting financial aid or plans to work on campus. The books and supplies allowance is based on full-time enrollment, but books and supply expenses may vary based on the courses that the student is taking.
Other Expenses
Other expenses include allowances for transportation, clothing, recreation and other living/miscellaneous expenses. These expenses vary greatly based on the individual student’s lifestyle and the allowance is based on what are considered reasonable, but modest costs.
