Managing Directors of CSTS

Radha Basu and Jeffrey Miller are serving as Managing Directors of the Center for Science, Technology, and Society for the 2009-10 academic year, starting July 1. 


As Managing Directors, Radha and Jeff will share responsibility for providing leadership of the Center until a new Executive Director is appointed.  A search for this position will begin this fall. 

Radha Basu is CEO of the Anudip Foundation, which supports humanitarian projects in marginalized and threatened areas of the world.  From 1999 to 2006, she served as Chairman and CEO of SupportSoft, making it a global market leader in support automation software.  Prior to joining SupportSoft, she had a 20-year career at Hewlett Packard, where she served as general manager of H-P’s international software division and developed HP’s software center in Bangalore.  Radha earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Madras and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.  She subsequently attended the Stanford Executive Management Program.

Jeff Miller is President and Chief Executive Officer of JAMM Ventures, a consulting and venture capital firm. He served as a Venture Partner with Redpoint Ventures from 2002 to 2006.  From 1993 to 2001, he was CEO of Documentum, Inc., leading it to become a market leader in content management software and one of the fastest growing technology companies in the country.  He has also held senior marketing and general management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Adaptec, and Intel.  Jeff earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and an MBA from Santa Clara.
