Did You Know?
Posted on Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2011
In 2008, Santa Clara University began painting building exteriors with a coating system that reflects heat from the invisible portion of the light spectrum. This highly reflective paint improved building energy efficiency, contributing to the University's 15 percent reduction in energy use between 2005-2009. This practice also gave SCU an Innovation point in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS) and helped garner the University a Silver rating.
