Santa Clara Ventures
Santa Clara Ventures is a venture capital and innovation platform rooted in the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley and extending across a broader network of mission-aligned universities. Our mission is to identify, support, and invest in high-potential founders from the Santa Clara University community and our partner Jesuit and Catholic universities. We advance this mission through two dedicated funds: the Bronco Venture Fund and the JECA Fund.
The Bronco Venture Fund
At the center of Santa Clara Ventures is the Bronco Venture Fund, a $10M early-stage venture capital fund designed to back promising startups at the pre-seed and seed stages.
The fund is supported by a network of SCU alumni, experienced venture capitalists, angel investors, and the university endowment.
Giving back is core to our model. A portion of the Bronco Venture Fund’s carried interest is returned directly to Santa Clara University, ensuring that the success of our portfolio companies helps sustain and expand the university’s mission. Beyond capital, the Bronco Venture Fund provides founders with access to mentorship, strategic guidance, and a deep Silicon Valley network to help companies grow and scale.
In addition, Santa Clara Ventures strengthens the SCU ecosystem by engaging alumni investors and mentors, creating experiential learning opportunities for students, and embedding real-world entrepreneurship into the university community. By aligning venture capital with education and values-driven innovation, Santa Clara Ventures helps founders build impactful companies while reinvesting in the future of Santa Clara University.

Santa Clara Ventures extends the entrepreneurial pathway created by Bronco Ventures, helping promising founders move from university-based acceleration to institutional venture capital. While Bronco Ventures develops founders within Santa Clara University, Santa Clara Ventures provides early-stage companies with investment capital, strategic guidance, and access to experienced operators, investors, and follow-on financing—creating a continuous ecosystem in which entrepreneurial success returns experience, mentorship, relationships, and capital to the SCU community. Building on this model, Santa Clara Ventures now manages the JECA Fund, which expands that venture network across more than 35 Jesuit and Catholic universities and their entrepreneurship centers. Together, Bronco Ventures, Santa Clara Ventures, and the JECA Fund create a powerful pathway from founder development to venture investment—strengthening SCU’s entrepreneurial ecosystem while extending its impact far beyond campus.
