Associate Provost Global Engagement Update
As of this week, all of the SCU international students who previously had their SEVIS immigration records canceled have had their records reactivated. We are delighted by this latest news for our international students. As always, we continue to monitor changes impacting SCU’s global people and partnerships. To learn more about federal government changes impacting Global Engagement at SCU, including potential impacts to students, faculty, and staff, visit our U.S. Government Updates Impacting Global Engagement webpage. SCU hosts 1,700 international students and you can learn more about this student population on our website.
Through the AJCU Global Executive Board on which I serve, SCU has led efforts for that group to increase collaboration in support of international students across Jesuit institutions.
Best,
Susan Popko

IAJU International Education Meeting of Global Engagement Leaders in Tokyo

The International Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (IAJU) meeting of global engagement leaders was held at Sophia University in Japan. There were representatives from 44 Jesuit higher education institutions across the six regional networks. Santa Clara University was represented by Associate Provost Susan Popko, and many of SCU’s global Jesuit partners attended. A particularly meaningful moment was the English-language Mass celebrated by Cardinal Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi, SVD, together with Jesuit leaders from across Asia and beyond.
The conference deepened interregional ties, showcased effective practices, and reaffirmed the global Jesuit network’s commitment to ongoing collaboration. See more about some of SCU’s Jesuit network global partners on our Global Partnerships webpage.

Day of Giving a Success
This year’s Day of Giving on April 23 resulted in over $200,000 from almost 50 gifts supporting Impact and Innovation through Global Partnerships. Giving empowers students with life-changing global experiences that shape compassionate leaders for a more just and connected world.
Didn’t get around to making a gift? You can still support Global Engagement by giving online.

Study Abroad and Global Programs for 2025-26
Students participating in global programs during Summer 2025 and Fall, Winter, Spring 2025-26 are in the midst of their pre-departure module, which takes place throughout spring term.
