Unsubscribe from an Email Distribution List

You may unsubscribe yourself from any list of which you are a member except for the SCU essential lists.

Essential Global Lists

You may not unsubscribe from the essential email distribution lists which are used to provide essential communication(s) to a particular list community. The essential lists are SCU-Faculty-Essential, SCU-Staff-Essential, SCU-UGrad-Essential, SCU-Grad-Essential, JST-Faculty-Essential, JST-Staff-Essential, and JST-Student-Essential

General Global Lists

You may unsubscribe from the general global lists, SCU-Faculty, SCU-Staff, SCU-Student-Events, and SCU-Grad-Events.  The general global lists have both an Unsubscribe section and a Subscriber section. Please use the Unsubscribe section and your SCU email address to unsubscribe.

Other Campus Lists

You may unsubscribe from lists other than the University's essential and general global lists using a similar procedure as unsubscribing from the general global lists.

  1. Determine the list from which you wish to unsubscribe. In these steps, list-name will be used. When you perform these steps, substitute the actual list name in place of list-name (including the dashes).
  2. Using your email client, send a message from your SCU email address to the list-name-unsubscribe@lists.scu.edu address.
  3. You can leave the subject line and body of the message blank.
  4. Send your unsubscribe request message.
  5. A confirmation email will be sent to your email address (the one you entered). You MUST respond and take the necessary action needed to be removed from the list.

For example: John Student wants to unsubscribe from the SCU-Grad-Events list. His SCU email address is JStu...@scu.edu and the list-name is SCU-Grad-Events.

To unsubscribe, compose a message from "JStudent@scu.edu" and send the message to the "SCU-Grad-Events-unsubscribe@lists.scu.edu" address (without the quotes). Leave the subject line and body of the message blank, and send the message. Upon receipt of the confirmation email, confirm the request to be removed from the SCU-Grad-Events list.
