Dear Students,
Congratulations to the Santa Clara Women’s Soccer team and their coaches for an outstanding win over Florida State in the National Championship game. We are so proud of our Broncos!
Please read below for updates on shifting to the yellow tier, a planned June 2 vaccine clinic on campus, face covering requirements on campus, summer sessions, and academic support.
Shift to the Yellow Tier
On Wednesday, May 19, Santa Clara County moved into the least-restrictive yellow tier in California’s system for COVID-19 openings. While this is good news, protocols on SCU’s campus are unchanged while we evaluate a variety of orders at the state and county level. Most notably, face coverings are still required indoors, regardless of vaccination status, per the State's mask mandate that is in effect until June 15. As previously announced, those who are vaccinated are not required to wear face coverings outdoors, with the exception of large gatherings such as the upcoming in-person commencement celebration and outdoor group exercise per Campus Recreation's policy below. Please continue to consult PreparedSCU for Santa Clara’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, which may be more restrictive than those permitted by the county or state.
Vaccine Clinic on Campus June 2
Santa Clara County has agreed to host an on-campus vaccination clinic on Wed, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Williman Room and patio in the Benson Memorial Center. More information will be provided as details firm up. Johnson & Johnson (single dose) and Pfizer (two dose) vaccines will be available; if you select Pfizer, the second dose will be offered on June 23. (If you’re leaving the area after the first dose, you can receive your second dose in most other places in the U.S.)
Campus Recreation
As health policies continue to change, all Campus Recreation facilities will continue to require a face covering - even when using an area with only your housemates. This includes our controlled spaces: Parking Garage Weight Room, Sullivan Aquatic Center, and Degheri Tennis Center as well as all of our open spaces: outdoor fitness, beach volleyball courts, outdoor basketball, and Bellomy track. If you are using one of the open spaces alone it is okay to not wear a face covering but if someone else joins you in the space you must resume wearing a face covering.
Dining Services
Dining Services will hold an end-of-term Sidewalk Sale in the Benson Memorial Center beginning on Monday, May 24. A selection of items from the Cellar Market can be purchased using dining plan points.
