Eligibility and Credit

Eligibility Requirements

  • Engineering major
  • Unit Completion
    • 90 quarter units for undergraduates
    • 30 quarter units for graduate students (Exception: 12 units if undergraduate major is the same as graduate major)
  • GPA Minimum
    • 2.5 for undergraduates
    • 3.0 for graduate students
  • Must have been a full-time student at Santa Clara University the quarter preceding the co-op assignment

  • If international student, must also havebeen enrolled as a full-time student for one academic year or threeconsecutive quarters (summer optional) and currently have F-1 status




Academic Credit

Students who meet the eligibility requirements and are approved to enroll in a co-op can be registered for one or two units in Course 188 for undergraduates or ENGR 288 for graduate students on a Pass/No Pass basis for a minimum of 6 weeks 


  • One unit: 3 months full-time or 6 months part-time
  • Two units: 6 months full-time

Full-Time Versus Part-Time

Co-op assignments are typically part-time during the academic year and full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer with important considerations for F-1 students.
