The objective of this program is to support the development of new courses, modules, and programs that address themes that broadly relate to the topics of innovation and the entrepreneurial mindset. There is particular interest in the development of curricular opportunities that broaden the exposure of these themes across the university, that are interdisciplinary, and that may explore innovative learning strategies.

The Center is currently accepting proposals for this program on a rolling basis. Details on the program are described in the current Call for Proposals, and its associated review guidelines document describes the review process, evaluation rubrics, and other details.

The objective of this program is to support the professional development of University faculty and staff in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. Such professional development may include enhancing faculty and staff knowledge of elements of the entrepreneurial mindset, providing knowledge and skills to help them incorporate such themes into their educational and scholarly activities, and contributing to their ability to be innovative and entrepreneurial in their professional lives.

The Center is currently accepting proposals for this program on a rolling basis. Details on the program are described in the current Call For Proposals, and its associated review guidelines document describes the review process, evaluation rubrics, and other details.

We have adopted a general framework for the review of competitive funding proposals for each of the above referenced academic programs. The framework outlines the process for proposal review and approval, evaluation criteria, and evaluation rubrics. These processes are based on best practices found across the university, they have been developed in conjunction with faculty from across the university, they have been reviewed by program’s Oversight Committee, and they have been approved by the Provost. A document based on this process and tailored to each of the above programs is made available during periods when an active Call For Proposals is available.

Fundamental to all is adherence to a Conflict of Interest (COI) policy.

All of these review process policies are open to review and will be revised over time in order to ensure academic freedom, enhance clarity, and promote transparency.

Design Thinking Workshops:

Ciocca Center is hosting a series of workshops to support SCU faculty and staff to integrate elements of design thinking into your existing curriculum and/or the design of student experiences! Register here for the next Design Thinking Workshop! We implement the following incremental stipend program along the workshop and curricular design process:

  • $250 for attending workshop
  • $500 for implementation of DT into a course or module (proof: syllabus and/or assignment with design thinking learning objectives, estimated number of students impacted, etc.)
  • $250 for reflecting on the experience with a broader campus community (proof: written or oral reflection at a department meeting or working group, in a newsletter or blog, etc.)

To obtain the second and third stipend payments, workshop participants would need to submit proof of implementation and/or sharing to the review team.
