Inclusive Excellence Awards

Inclusive Excellence Awards

The Council on Inclusive Excellence established two awards in 2008 to honor students, faculty, staff, campus organizations, and departments that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to enhancing Santa Clara University's multicultural community.

In 2015, the faculty award award was named for Professor Emeritus Francisco Jiménez (Modern Languages and Literatures), who received the first Faculty/Staff Inclusive Excellence award. Professor Jiménez is the author of a collection of autobiographical short stories, The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child (the University of New Mexico Press, 1997; Houghton Mifflin, 1999; Scholastic Press, 2000). The Santa Clara University Library's Archives & Special Collections is the repository of the Francisco Jiménez Papers, which are available for research and study. The collection has been organized and described and can be accessed via a descriptive guide, a related digital collection, or both.

In 2016, the staff award was created as a stand-alone category.

A total of four awards may be given annually. Please click on the left-hand menu for more information about the Council and other campus diversity initiatives.
