About
Overview
Santa Clara University’s policies advance the University’s mission and values, clarify expectations of members of the University community, support the University’s compliance with applicable law, enhance operational efficiency, and mitigate risk.
This website is an initiative to consolidate University policies in one location, allowing Santa Clara University students, faculty, and staff to easily find policies applicable to them.
The initial phase of this site includes policies that were recently reviewed and approved pursuant to the University’s policy governance processes. Working in collaboration with the appropriate governance committees, additional policies will be included on this website in the coming months.
This site is intended to be a repository for policies that are broadly applicable to the University, but it does not include all Santa Clara University policies. For policies that apply solely to an individual SCU school, department, or center, please refer to that entity's own sources of policy-related information.

cCreating or Updating Policies / Collaborative Governance
Policies may need to be created or updated for various reasons, such as to comply with applicable law, to advance the University’s mission, to improve operational effectiveness, or to reduce risk to the University. The office responsible for the subject matter area of the policy and for its implementation is typically responsible for initiating the creation of or update to the policy.
In furtherance of the University’s commitment to collaborative governance, the office responsible for the subject matter area will work with the University Coordinating Committee, which oversees the work of various policy committees that serve as the final locus of dialogue on policies that pertain to academic affairs and the responsibilities of faculty, non-union staff, and students. For more information about the University’s policy governance structure and processes, please see the University Coordinating Committee website.
The President is responsible for the final approval of new or updated University policies.
