A proven leader in Catholic higher education and internationally recognized scholar, Julie Sullivan is the first layperson and woman president in Santa Clara University’s 171-year history. Sullivan has served as president of the University of St. Thomas for the past nine years where she has created innovative academic programs and championed social innovation.

Meet the President

Inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition, Julie Sullivan helped improve access to education, ensure sustainability, build community, and worked to dismantle racism as president of University of St. Thomas. Her tenure included the opening of two mission-driven colleges and plans for 14 new buildings.
