Fraudulent Charges

Any transaction dispute and/or reconciliation problem is between the cardholder and the supplier and/or Bank of America. There is a 60-day window from the transaction date for a cardholder to contest fraudulent charges with Bank of America.

When a fraudulent transaction is identified, the cardholder must call the BofA fraud hotline at 1-866-500-8262.

If a charge is successfully contested, BofA will issue a credit, close the card, and mail a new one to the University Finance Office. The cardholder will be contacted when the card is ready for pickup.

A fraudulent charge will still need to be reconciled in Workday. If successfully contested, the cardholder may wait for the credit from the bank to be transmitted to Workday. Both fraudulent charges and credit need to be reconciled as normal. They don’t have to be in the same report, but they should be reported in the same fiscal year. If both the fraudulent charge and the credit are ready to verify at once, you can submit them both on the same report so that they zero out.
