Associate Provost Global Engagement Update
I am delighted to share that Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea is SCU’s newest Jesuit international partner. Founded in 1960, Sogang University is the only Jesuit higher education institution in South Korea, and, despite being a “young” university, it is regarded as one of the top universities in the country including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. SCU students can study abroad at Sogang during the 4-week summer program, or the fall or spring semester. Sogang’s curriculum is offered in English and Korean, and academic programs range from Business to Computer Science to Political Science to Communications. SCU has twenty students who studied abroad in South Korea during 2024-25, and we are excited for this new partnership with an excellent Jesuit university launching for 2025-26.
Expanding our international partnerships is part of SCU’s Impact 2030 Strategic Priority One: Reach on a Global Scale’s goal to insure that “every Bronco will graduate with intercultural competence, and the knowledge, skills, and creativity needed to thrive in their careers and as citizens in a globally connected world.” Undergraduate student collaborations like this serve as a foundation with our new Sogang-SCU partnership as we continue to explore further collaborations in international teaching and research. I am happy to welcome Sogang University’s Chief International Officer to campus when he visits SCU later this week, and look forward to growing opportunities for students, faculty, and staff through this new partnership.
Best, Susan Popko Associate Provost for International Programs

Students represent 24 different majors and many include academic internships. Summer programs range in length from three to eight weeks and students can apply as early as their first year.
