Faculty Opportunities
The WAVE HPC Center supports faculty across Santa Clara University by providing funding, technical resources, and programmatic support for computational research and curriculum development. These initiatives help faculty integrate high-performance computing into their research and teaching while expanding opportunities for students to gain experience with advanced computational tools.
Faculty Course Development Spotlights
The High Performance Computing Center establishes a robust ecosystem of advanced computational resources within Santa Clara University’s curricula. Initially supported by a grant from the Fletcher Jones Foundation, these programs provide faculty with the resources to advance research and prepare students for data-driven careers.
Through course development initiatives, faculty are able to redesign existing courses or develop new curriculum components that incorporate high-performance computing tools, data analysis methods, and computational modeling techniques. These efforts help bring real-world computational workflows into the classroom and prepare students for modern research and industry environments.
Catalytic Faculty Project Grants
The WAVE HPC Center established the Catalytic Faculty Project Grant program to support researchers exploring high-risk, high-reward computational frontiers. These awards foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide the technical "muscle" required for faculty to scale their research from local workstations to national supercomputing environments. While this programmatic infrastructure was launched with initial support from the Fletcher Jones Foundation, it has become a central engine for SCU’s strategic research mission.
Catalytic Faculty Project Grants enable faculty to pursue innovative research projects that require significant computational resources. By supporting early-stage or exploratory work, these grants help researchers develop new ideas, build interdisciplinary collaborations, and position their projects for larger external funding opportunities.
