Bridget Burke Ravizza, director of the Markey Center for Leadership and Ministry

Dr. Bridget Burke Ravizza (SCU ‘93) joyfully returns to Santa Clara University as Director of the Rev. Francis L. Markey Center for Leadership and Ministry. After graduating from SCU, she earned a Master’s degree in Practical Theology at the University of San Diego and a Ph.D. in Theological Ethics at Boston College. She spent twenty-four years at St. Norbert College, a small, Catholic, liberal arts college in De Pere, WI. As a professor of Theology and Religious Studies, she taught undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to the Peace and Justice Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Master of Theological Studies programs. In recent years, she also directed the college’s Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice & Public Understanding and its Cassandra Voss Center (CVC). At the CVC, she created and led the Olive Branch Initiative, an ongoing effort to bring people with various perspectives together to share stories and engage in authentic, critical dialogue.  

Dr. Burke Ravizza’s publications include The Sacrament of Same-Sex Marriage: An Inclusive Vision for the Catholic Church (Sheed & Ward, 2024) and Project Holiness: Marriage as a Workshop for Everyday Saints (co-authored by Julie Donovan Massey, Liturgical Press, 2015).
