CARES Act Relief Fund FAQs

Alert icon CARES Act Relief Fund Update As of December 14, 2020, Santa Clara University has distributed all of its allotted CARES Act Relief Fund aid to students in need of financial relief from the health and economic impacts of COVID-19. The application for aid is now closed.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was passed by Congress to help provide financial relief from the health and economic impacts of COVID-19. Part of the CARES Act established the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to distribute funds to institutions of higher education nationwide. Half of the funds these institutions receive must be given directly to their students to assist students with unanticipated expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Santa Clara University has received $1,771,339 under this program to be disbursed directly to our students. Santa Clara University has established the CARES Act Relief Fund to aid in disbursing the funds to students. Students who meet eligibility requirements as set forth by the Department of Education and who demonstrate the greatest need may receive assistance from this fund.
