The Santa Clara University Men's Club Volleyball team competes in Division 1 and is part of the very competitive Northern California Collegiate Club Volleyball League (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - in our league - captured the 2019 National Collegiate D1 Club Volleyball Championship title at the NCVF's ). Prospective players should attend MVB specific open gym sessions and the team information session. 2019-2020 team tryouts will be held in early to mid October. Team practices begin after tryouts and tournaments/matches start when the season officially begins in January and will finish April 8-11th, 2020 following the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Championships in Kansas City. In April 2019, four hundred eighty collegiate club teams competed in the USA Volleyball NCVF's in Denver, Colorado (https://ncvf.org/) and the team travelled in conjunction with the SCU Women's Club Volleyball team (also D1) to the event. The SCU 2019 Men's VB team placed 19th in the Nation in Division 1AA.
During pre-season and regular season, we will practice three to four nights per week and tournaments/individual matches are held on weekends at SCU and throughout central and northern California (Cal Poly SLO, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Fresno State, San Jose State, UC Santa Cruz, University of Pacific, Sacramento State, Sonoma State and others). Our team is comprised of players who have both played for well-respected high school teams/club volleyball teams, and enthusiastic novice players that have less experience but diligently work to increase their skills and add to our great team camaraderie.
As with all club sports at Santa Clara, the Men's Volleyball team is partially funded by the University, and all other funding comes from member dues, fundraising and donations. If you would like to help support our team, please see our Men's Club Volleyball Support page or contribute to our team through the SCU Club Sports page on SCU's Day of Giving (please note Men's Volleyball on your donation).
