Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is observed each October to raise awareness about dating and domestic violence, support survivors, and recognize the impact relationship abuse can have on individuals and communities. This month is an opportunity to learn about patterns of abuse, challenge misconceptions, center survivor experiences, and honor the complexity of healing. We reaffirm that everyone deserves relationships grounded in safety, respect, autonomy, and choice.

💜 On Wednesdays, We Wear Purple

On Wednesdays We Wear Purple

Throughout October, we invite our campus community to participate in “On Wednesdays, We Wear Purple.”  Purple is the recognized color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is used to represent support, remembrance, hope, and solidarity with individuals impacted by domestic violence. Wearing purple is one small way to visibly acknowledge the experiences of those impacted by dating and domestic violence, and to communicate that survivors are not alone.

Join us outside the Learning Commons October 7, 14, and 21 from 12:00–2:00 PM to learn about dating violence, explore resources, and connect with our campus community. Stop by to pick up a creative prompt and add your voice to a collective reflection on healing, strength, identity, and solidarity. All pieces offered by October 21st, will be displayed during Honoring All Voices and Experiences of Domestic Violence, October 22–23.
