Welcome to the Class of 2012!

Residence Hall Amenities

Most RLCs are set up in traditional residence halls, with double rooms and large common bathrooms. Others have six- to eight-person suites with en-suite bathrooms. Whatever the style of room in your RLC, you will have a bed, chest of drawers, closet space, desk, chair, and bookshelves. You will also have shared local telephone and voice mail service, cable television, and high-speed, wireless Internet service.

Eating with a Dining Plan

On the RLC/Housing Preference form, you will choose between two dining plans: the Preferred Plan, which suits most students, or the Basic Plan for light eaters and those frequently away from campus. Under either plan, you have the flexibility of dining when and how you like, or purchasing groceries on campus.

The dining plan is a quarterly allocation of purchasing points. There is no predetermined number of meals per week, so you won’t lose out if you leave campus for a few days. Find more information about dining on the Admitted Students and Dining Services Web sites, www.scu.edu/diningservices.

Dining for a Healthy Body, Satisfied Soul, and Vibrant Community

SCU Dining offers great food, good value, convenience, and flexibility. We recognize the importance of providing healthy food while demonstrating sustainable practices and ecological awareness. Our menus are created based on seasonal, regional fresh ingredients purchased from local farming communities and served in six distinct venues that offer continuous dining service throughout the day and night. Among our wide selections you will find fair trade coffees, antibiotic-free chicken, and local artisan breads. Our chefs are also able to create custom dishes for those with vegetarian, vegan, or other special dietary needs or preferences.

Parking

First-year campus residents and parking

First-year resident students are not permitted to bring cars to campus during the fall quarter. If you have an extraordinary need for a vehicle, such as a medical condition, you can request an exception. Hardship request forms are available at www.scu.edu/studentlife. A lottery will be held in fall quarter to determine if and how many first-year residents will be able to bring a car to campus in winter 2008.
