Sample Transfer Student Orientation Schedule. Final schedules, details, and locations will be handed out when you check in for Orientation. Welcome to Santa Clara University! We are so excited to have you as part of our community of scholars. While you have already attended classes at another institution, there is much for you to learn to make a smooth transition into the community here at Santa Clara University. All transfer students are required to attend Transfer Orientation on Friday, September 18, 2009. Once you submit your enrollment confirmation and fee, you will be prepared to make your reservation for a Transfer Workshop and Transfer Orientation. You should complete these action items no later that July 1, 2009 by logging onto eCampus (www.scu.edu/campus) with the username and password provided in your admission letter. Once we receive your reservation, we will send you a confirmation and additional information about the program. Transfer Workshops We are offering two open workshops in June designed specifically for students who have not yet deposited with Santa Clara University. Information will be presented to assist in helping you make your decision to attend. To register for one of these sessions, please email orientation@scu.edu with your name, student ID number, and telephone number. If you do not live in the Bay Area or surrounding communities, you may request to have a phone appointment with a University Advisor in lieu of attending a Transfer Workshop. Please contact the Office of New Student Programs at 408-551-1995 to schedule a phone appointment. This appointment should occur prior to attending Transfer Orientation.

Transfer Orientation All students are charged a one-time $125 program fee, which covers the costs of both Transfer Orientation and Welcome Weekend. This fee covers meals, materials, publications, activities, and administrative costs. The charge will be made to your student account shortly after orientation. Transfer Student that will be living on-campus will be permitted to move into their residence hall on Thursday, September 17, 2009. More information regarding your move-in will be available to you throughout the summer. If you have questions about housing, please contact Housing and Residence Life at 408-554-4900 or housing@scu.edu. Transfer Parent Orientation Parents are encouraged, but not required, to attend Parent Orientation on Friday, September 18, 2009. Parent Orientation introduces parents to the values, goals, and practices of Santa Clara University. The program will allow parents to learn more about the academic, social, and spiritual dimensions of a Santa Clara education. Although students and parents attend orientation together, a majority of sessions are conducted separately. Parent Orientation will begin at 8:00am and will end by 5:00pm. A more complete schedule will be posted on this site in early July. Parents or guests are charged a one-time $50 program fee which covers the cost of all meals, materials, and activities (lodging is not included) for both Parent Orientation and Welcome Weekend. For parents and guests who attend only Welcome Weekend, the cost of the program is $20 per person. All fees will be billed to the student’s account shortly after orientation. Welcome Weekend Transfer students and their families are encouraged to attend Welcome Weekend. In addition to the events that are open to all students, we have some activities designed specifically for Transfer students and their families. More specific information will be available online in the summer and will be mailed to you in mid-August. |
