Orientation Program

Welcome Weekend

Saturday, Sept. 20 and Sunday, Sept. 21

For most new students, welcome weekend means moving into the residence halls. However, there are activities planned for everyone – on-campus, commuter, and transfer students.

Welcome Weekend is the official commencement of your Santa Clara University experience! While on-campus students are moving into their residence halls in the morning, commuter students will be learning about ways to get involved on campus and transfer students will learn how to transition into this community.

There will be a "Get Organized" fair hosted by the First Year Programs office. This fair brings together the most popular area vendors including banks, local vendors, and campus offices that will help you get acclimated to your new home!

At lunchtime, students will gather according to their Residential Learning Communities. This will be an opportunity to meet your RLC Faculty Director, your Residence Hall staff, and other new students. Lunch is provided for new students, parents, and their guests.

In mid-afternoon, the entire campus will come together for the President’s Welcome. Over 2,000 new students and parents will listen to Fr. Paul Locatelli, S.J., University President, welcome all new students to Santa Clara University.

On Sunday morning, all new students and their families are invited to attend the Welcome Mass and Reception. After the mass, parents are asked to say their final good-byes. Sunday afternoon and evening are reserved for student-only activities.
