On Campus

When you are on campus, there is always something going on, from career and club fairs to fun activities hosted by the Activities Programming Board (APB), creating a strong sense of excitement and community. Brayden ’27 shared that the school’s plays and performances are one of his favorite ways to take a break from homework and experience the creativity of our theatre department. Since these shows are completely free for students, they offer an easy and enjoyable opportunity to relax, support peers, and feel more connected to campus life, whether you go with friends or decide to treat yourself to a night out. Alongside the theatre, students can also attend on-campus sports games, which are free for students to cheer on our Broncos!

SCU Neighborhood

There’s plenty for students to do just beyond Santa Clara University’s campus, making weekends the perfect time to venture out. From grabbing coffee at Voyager to checking out nearby stores at Santana Row, students can easily find places to spend time with friends. One favorite spot is the Santa Clara Farmers’ Market, located just a short walk away. Lena ’26 shared, “I enjoy going to the Santa Clara farmers' markets on Saturdays with my friends, as it's very close by and walkable. While there, I enjoy trying out the community restaurants and getting fresh produce to bring back on campus to cook with my friends in their community kitchens.”

Beyond SCU

Exploring further than Santa Clara University can be easy and accessible for students, thanks to the Bay Area’s vast public transportation options. Whether heading to the beach, going to a local sports game, or going on a day trip, students can use Caltrain or local buses as a way to get to their destinations. Public transit also helps with everyday errands, offering an affordable way to get around without a car. Dylan ’26 shared, “As a senior with no car, budget-friendly public transportation has been a key part of my college experience! From walking no more than 10 minutes to the Santa Clara CalTrain to take myself to doctor appointments or to the city for breaks from school. Or taking the local buses to places like the bank or Academic Coffee (like many other students) has made all the difference to do everything I need to do both as a student and as an adult, too. Simply buy a physical clipper card at the train station or add a digital card to your Apple Wallet & tap on tap off for the Bay Area to be yours!” Along with being able to travel independently, SCU also offers a club called Into the Wild, where student-led groups take trips to locations such as Yosemite for hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities.

Whether you’re a prospective student or a returning Bronco, these are just some of the opportunities you’ll get to enjoy and experience during your time at Santa Clara University. SCU offers countless ways to get involved, explore your interests, and feel at home. No matter how you choose to spend your time here on or off campus, each moment helps you shape your college journey!
