Empowered Leadership is designed to meet a growing need and interest in juniors and seniors to continue learning about leadership in an academic setting. Focusing on students who have been in any type of positional leadership (currently or in the past) and are looking to further develop their skills, this course explores multiple areas of leadership that require more complex thinking and recognition of gray areas in leading. The course integrates group discussion, experiential learning, self-assessment, and reflective engagement experiences to enhance personal growth as leaders in a changing world.

Sophomores and juniors.
Learning Outcomes
After participating in this course, students will:
- Know the difference between leadership and management, knowing which method is most appropriate
- Understand areas of personal strengths and weaknesses as they relate to leadership
- Recognize leadership development as a creative and never-ending process
- Express personal conviction for leadership, utilizing values, skills, and passions
- Complete a leadership portfolio to assist in sharing their leadership experiences for future internships and/or careers
- Experience the complexity of leadership from both an organizational as well as a systems-thinking perspective
- Be empowered to bring about change in any organization or group
- Apply critical thinking skills to new and various leadership situations
