Students who submit their application after February 11, 2026 will apply via the rolling application process, will not be able to go through the initial room selection process, and may be manually placed based on available housing.

The Sophomore Housing Application is available on your Housing Portal via MySCU

Explore these various living options available to Sophomores. Below you'll find the various room types within each building. Please note that once the deadline has passed we will give an update on what spaces may be available for those students who will be going through the Open Room Selection process. It is important to note that you should take your time to submit your application, since time of submission does not impact room selection order. Residents who are RETURNING to their current RLC will go through the room selection process before students who are non-returners. Again, take your time completing the application.

  1. You'll need access to the Internet. If you are having issues with the application, please try another browser. We have found that Chrome works the best.
  2. A $500 pre-payment deposit; deposits can ONLY be paid using a debit or credit card. Obtaining a waiver for the pre-payment deposit is not available.
  3. Before beginning a housing application, you should confirm if you will apply with a group of other students or if you will be applying as an individual. If you apply as a member of a group, one member of the group will need to create a Group Profile and all other members of the group will need to connect their application to the Group's Profile. If you are not applying as a member of a group, you will not need to do anything.
  4. Make sure that you and all the members of your group complete the housing application by 5:00PM on February 5, 2025, in order to receive priority considerations; applications submitted AFTER February 5 are considered LATE.
  5. Students registered with the Office of Accessible Education will be notified by the Housing Office on next steps once their application is submitted.
  6. Make sure you only submit your application once you are sure about the answers you have provided, as changes cannot be made once you submit your application.

The Sophomore Housing Application is available on your Housing Portal via MySCU

Room Selection Preferences

How are RLC assignments determined and when will I find out my room assignment?

Residents who wish to return to their current RLC as an individual (with no roommate selection) would select this option within the application.

A lottery number is generated after the preferred application period deadline, and will determine when you are able to begin your room selection process to select a space in your current community.

Example:

Joey is currently living in Campisi/Magis and wishes to continue living in Campisi/Magis for the next academic school year. Joey would select Returner.

Joey is currently living in McLaughlin-Walsh/Unity and wishes to move to Nobili/Unity for the next academic school year. Joey would also select Returner, as both McLaughlin-Walsh Hall and Nobili Hall are part of the same Residential Learning Community.

Returner Group is composed entirely of residents who wish to return to their current community for the upcoming academic year. EVERY member of the group must reside in their current community to be considered a “Returner Group.” If one group member is from a different community, the group is considered “Non-Returner.”

If you apply as a member of a group, one member of the group will need to create a Group Profile and all other members of the group will need to connect their application to this Group Profile. Make sure to verify your group once you have created it by clicking on the Verify Group button right below the name of your group.

A lottery number is generated after the preferred application period deadline. The lottery numbers for all group members will be averaged to determine your group leader is able to begin your room selection process to select a space for all group members in your current community.

Example:

Nancy and her friends Eleven, Max, and Barb are all current residents of Sobrato. They want to be roommates and continue living in Sobrato for the 2025-2026 year. Nancy, Eleven, Max, and Barb will all choose Returner.

A resident who wishes to live in a different RLC for the upcoming academic year and intends to complete the application as an individual (with no roommate selection), will select this option within the housing application.

A lottery number is generated after the preferred application period deadline, and will determine when you are able to begin your room selection process to select a space through Open Room Selection. Residents who choose this option will select their on-campus housing space from among any of the housing spaces that are available at the time of their designated room selection day and time.

Example:

Danny is currently living in Swig/Cyphi. However, he wishes to live in Sanfilippo/Magis for the next academic school year. Danny would select Non-Returners.

Non-Returner Group is composed of residents who want to live together for the 2026-2027 academic year regardless of their current community.

Example:

Tyrion (currently lives in Sobrato), Jon (currently lives in Graham), and Jaime (currently lives in Graham) decide to live together in Graham for the 2026-2027 year. Tyrion, Jon, and Jaime would select “Non-Returners.”

Due to limited availability, not all residents who select this option will be able to join their desired RLC. During Open Room Selection, you and your group may need to choose a space in a different RLC. We recommend discussing RLC rank order prior to beginning Open Room Selection.
