New Trustees Join the Board of Santa Clara University

Santa Clara University's Board of Trustees elected three new trustees to a three-year term each.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 17, 2013—At its spring meeting, Santa Clara University’s Board of Trustees elected three new trustees to a three-year term each. The election of Rachel Manfre, Rich Haughey, and Steve Sordello brings to 45 the number of members of the governing body that helps steer strategies and priorities of the 162-year-old private University.
 
"We are honored to welcome Rachel, Rich and Steve as new trustees with a deep affinity and dedication to Santa Clara,” said President Michael Engh, S.J.
 
The new members all hold undergraduate or graduate degrees from SCU.
 
Rachel Manfre ’09
Elected as a recent-student graduate to the Board of Trustees, Rachel Manfre received her B.A. in communication from Santa Clara University in 2009. She is a second-generation Bronco originally from Santa Cruz County. As an undergraduate at Santa Clara, she served as student body president, played Women's Club Volleyball, and participated in and led search retreats through Campus Ministry. She also served as a residence hall community facilitator for two years and spent a summer studying abroad in Durham, England.
 
Manfre’s professional work includes various internships including the Golden State Warriors and Target. After graduation and extensive overseas travels, she joined Target full-time in the fall of 2009, holding various positions.  She is currently the store team leader (store manager) of a $70 million dollar Target store in San Bruno, Calif.
 
Steve Sordello ’92
Steve Sordello is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at LinkedIn, where he oversees finance, business operations, facilities and corporate development.  Sordello joined LinkedIn in July 2007 and helped the company grow from $32 million in revenues in 2007 to over $1 billion in revenues in 2013 and go public as the first major publicly traded social-media company. Prior to LinkedIn, Sordello served as CFO of two Nasdaq publicly traded companies. Sordello was CFO at TiVo, where he was part of the management team that delivered TiVo’s first-ever quarter of profitability.  Prior to that, he was CFO for Ask Jeeves and helped lead the company through a transition from unprofitable to a profitable, high-margin company. During his tenure there, revenue and earnings grew significantly, and the company’s market value increased from less than $40 million to more than $2 billion when it was acquired by IAC/Interactive in 2005. Sordello also has held senior finance roles at Adobe Systems and Syntex (acquired by Roche). He holds an MBA and B.A. from Santa Clara University.
 
Richard (Rich) D. Haughey ’72
Rich Haughey is a recognized leader in environmental services and engineering at Golder Associates, a global consulting, design, and construction company specializing in the earth, environment, and energy. Prior to joining Golder, Haughey was an executive at EMCON Associates, a publicly traded earth science, engineering, and environmental consulting firm. Haughey is a registered professional engineer and a board-certified environmental engineer. 
Haughey earned a B.S. in civil engineering from Santa Clara University in 1972 and a M.S. in civil engineering from San Jose State University in 1977. He and his wife, Mary “Ginny” Haughey ’73, have been members of the SCU Board of Regents since 2010. They are the parents of two SCU alumni: Michael P. Haughey ’99 and Nicholas V. Haughey ’02.
