Leavey School of Business Ranks No. 33 in Poets & Quants’ Top Business Programs for Undergrads

Leavey School of Business ranked No. 33 in Poets & Quants' Top Undergraduate Business Programs

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 20, 2019 — Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business offers one of the nation's best undergraduate business programs, earning the No. 33 spot in Poets & Quants for Undergrads, a leading news source for undergraduate business education.

P&Q’s fourth annual "2020 Top Undergraduate Business Program" feature ranks 100 of the most-accomplished business programs by alumni experience, admissions standards, and career outcomes. The Leavey School rose from its No. 42 placement last year.

“I am excited to be leading an exceptional academic institution whose innovative and entrepreneurial offerings prepare our students to go anywhere from here,” said Dean Caryn Beck-Dudley. “At the Leavey School of Business, we have exceptional faculty in all business disciplines, and we are located in the world’s most dynamic business environment, Silicon Valley.”

The P&Q ranking comes on the heels of other, similarly strong national rankings for the Leavey School of Business, including including being ranked No. 66 out of over 500 universities nationwide by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in undergraduate business education. In addition, LSB was noted in the U.S. News ranking for having excellent undergraduate business specialty programs in entrepreneurship (where LSB was ranked No. 12);  in management information systems (ranked No. 15) and in accounting (No. 37).

“It is a pleasure teaching at SCU, as our students are very engaged and work hard to get the most they can from their time at SCU,” said John Ifcher, associate professor of economics and undergraduate leadership team chair. “It is no wonder that 88 percent of our students complete at least one internship while at SCU, with many of the internships taking place at Silicon Valley companies.”

P&Q’s methodology is weighted equally, measuring admissions standards by business school acceptance rates (30 percent), average SATs (35 percent), and percentage of students graduating in the top 10 percent of their high school class (35 percent).
