When can you view your assigned registration appointment?
You will be able to view your assigned registration appointment two weeks prior to the first day of the registration period except for fall when you can view appointments the week before Mandatory May Advising takes place. Undergraduate classes for the specific term will also be viewable on CourseAvail.
How are Registration Appointments Assigned?
Registration appointments are determined by academic level which is based on the number of units a student has completed. In assigning a registration appointment, a student's completed units (including transfer units) plus any units currently "in progress" are taken into consideration. Note that "test credit" units are not. In winter 2021, the following policy regarding test credit became effective:
Changes Regarding Undergraduate Registration Appointment Times: Last spring, the Undergraduate Studies Council (USC) discussed and agreed that, in order to ensure more equity when undergraduate continuing students register for classes, the appointment times, which are based on credits earned and in progress, would be set up without including test credit brought in prior to matriculation. This practice would then not disadvantage those students who may not have had opportunities to take high school coursework (such as AP, IB, or Cambridge) for college credit
The following students qualify for priority registration which allows them to register ahead of the general population: Students with documented disabilities with the approved accommodation of priority registration, Honor’s program students, LEAD Scholars, NCAA Athletes, Leavey Scholars, Veterans, and Military Science students.
Students with documented disabilities and with the approved accommodation of priority registration are given the first appointments at all levels (senior, junior, sophomore and first year, and in that order). They are followed by senior and junior level students who are members of Honors or LEAD scholars or NCAA qualified athletes or Veterans. They are mixed together then put in order by the total number of units completed and including those units in progress. Then senior students who are Leavey Scholars or Military Science students are mixed together and ordered by the number of completed units and those units currently in progress. Following this group are seniors who are not members of a defined priority group and they are ordered by number of units including those units in progress.
Next are the junior level Leavey Scholars or Military Science students who are mixed together then ordered by number of completed units and those in progress. Then the junior level students who are not members of a defined student group are listed in order of number of completed units including units in progress.
The next group of students are sophomore and first year level students who are a member of Honors or LEAD scholars or are NCAA qualified athletes or Veterans. They are mixed together then ordered by the total number of units including units in progress. Then sophomore students who are Leavey Scholars or Military Science students are mixed together and ordered by number of completed units and including those in progress. Following this group are sophomores who are not members of a defined priority group and they fall in order by number of units including those units in progress.
Next are the freshmen level Leavey Scholars or Military Science students who are then mixed together and ordered by the number of completed units and those in progress. Then the first year level students who are not members of a defined student group are listed in order of number of completed units including units in progress.
Lastly students who are not degree seeking students are assigned the last appointment times for the term.
Note that there are no appointments scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (normal class times) or on the weekend or holidays.
Below is a chart that represents the order in which students are assigned appointment times. Again note that the groups listed under the "Group" heading are mixed together then ordered by number of units completed and also takes into consideration those units in progress.
