Associate Director of Admission (Marketing & Communications)

Gaby moved from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico when she was 8 years old and considers herself a San Jose native. Her experience in non-profit, private business, and start-up/tech sectors in the area has given her opportunities to really understand this very diverse community.

As a first-generation college student, the love and support from her teachers was monumental for her enrollment and success. Gaby is a Spanish native speaker, has a heart for the immigrant communities and absolutely loves California for its beauty, endless possibilities and diversity.

“I believe there is no single right path to higher education. Whether a student begins as a first-year, transfers, or follows a nontraditional route, every journey is unique and valuable. To me, higher education is about expanding opportunities and empowering individuals to discover their purpose, regardless of the path they take.”

Gaby se mudó de Tijuana, Baja California, México cuando tenía 8 años y se considera hija nativa de San José. Su experiencia en los sectores de tecnología, empresas privadas y organizaciones sin fines de lucro en el área le han brindado la oportunidad de comprender realmente esta comunidad tan diversa. Como estudiante universitaria de primera generación, el amor y el apoyo de sus maestros fue monumental para su inscripción y éxito universitario. Gaby es hablante nativa de español, tiene un corazón abierto para comunidades inmigrantes y adora absolutamente al estado de California por su belleza, infinitas posibilidades y diversidad.

“Creo que no existe un único camino correcto hacia la educación universitaria. Ya sea que un estudiante comience directamente a una universidad de 4 años, se transfiera de otra institución/colegio o siga un camino no tradicional, cada trayectoria es única y valiosa. Para mí, la educación consiste en ampliar oportunidades y brindar a cada persona las herramientas para descubrir su propósito, sin importar el camino que haya recorrido para llegar hasta allí.”

Hobbies & Interests:
You can catch me watching reruns of all Sherlock re-imaginings, listening to audiobooks, going to see over-the-top action movies with female leads (or Keanu Reeves), reading mystery novels, or water painting. You might also catch me around town walking my dog or trying a new coffee place with my son.
