Don Bordenave attended Santa Clara University from 1948-1952. He played guard for the legendary Len Casanova. A highlight of Bordenave’s Bronco football days was his team’s Orange Bowl Championship in 1950. Santa Clara beat Bear Bryant’s heavily favored Kentucky Wildcats 21-13 following a 7-2-1 season. A standout athlete even before Santa Clara, Bordenave was an All-Nor Cal selection in ‘47 and inducted into the Bellarmine College Preparatory Hall of Fame in 2016. After graduation, Bordenave spent over 25 years as a volunteer assistant coach for Pat Malley.
