Edwin “Eddie” Forrest played center for the Broncos. He played four years of football at Santa Clara before becoming a parachute infantry officer with the 101st Airborne Division in World War II. Upon returning, Forrest began playing with the newly formed San Francisco 49ers as a center. He played with the 49ers as an original member of the team for the 1946 and 1947 season. After his pro career, Forrest returned to Santa Clara to coach the team that he once played on. His coaching career was highlighted by a 21-13 victory over Bear Bryant’s Kentucky Wildcats in the 1950 Orange Bowl.
