Robert “Bob” Garibaldi was a standout pitcher during the 1962 season and was a key player for the Bronco squad that made it to the final game of the College World Series before falling in extra innings to Michigan. Garibaldi was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament and a Second-Team All-American. He holds the College World Series records for innings pitched (27.2) and strikeouts (38). He led the team that year in wins (10), innings pitched (125.2), and strikeouts (168). He set a record for best career ERA at 1.86. He was signed by the San Francisco Giants in 1962 and was inducted into the Santa Clara Athletic Hall of Fame in 1979.
