John Roche was one of the key members of the 1937 Sugar Bowl Championship. His athletic ability also carried over to the baseball diamond as he was one of the best players on the team. Roche did so well at SCU that he was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals. After his professional career, he coached the Santa Clara baseball team in the 1940’s.
