2016-2017 Conference Presenters
Psychology students were busy this year sharing their work with the broader research community, presenting at conferences far and wide:
Students working with Dr. Bruchmann, Meghan Carlsen (‘17), Makeda Adisu (‘17), and Maggie Head (‘16) presented their work on how people use comparison information from others at the annual Western Psychological Association (WPA) meeting in Sacramento.
Students working with Dr. Koopmann-Holm, Shareen Mann (‘18), Amir Oduye (‘17), Megan Pearson (‘17), Kiki Bartel (‘17), Maryam Bin Meshar (‘16) and Evangeline (Huiru) Yang (‘16) also presented their work on the cultural shaping of emotion at WPA and also at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) meeting in San Antonio.
Students working with Dr. Read, Jessica Jara (‘17) and Jaqueline Quirke (‘17) presented their research on the types of children’s books that can support learning in preschoolers at WPA and also the California Cognitive Science Conference (CCSC) at Berkeley.
Students working with Dr. Bell, Dr. Simone and Dr. Whitfield, Sofia Kahler-Quesada (‘17) and Matthew Duff (‘17) presented their work on memory and aging, and Shreya Wadhawan (‘17) presented her work with Dr. Bhagwat on bilingual children’s essentialist views on language also at CCSC.
