Students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan can take advantage of vision discounts through EyeMed Vision Care. Please note that this is not an insurance plan; it is a discount plan.
With this discount, you can purchase prescription eyeglasses, conventional contact lenses, or even non-prescription sunglasses at discounts between 15% and 45% off regular retail pricing. In addition, you can receive discounts from 5% to 15% off laser correction surgery at some of the nation's most highly qualified laser correction surgeons. EyeMed's provider network consists of over 45,000 independent providers and retail stores nationwide, including LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, JC Penney Optical, and many private practitioners.
To locate a participating provider, or if you have any additional questions, you can call 1-866-8EYEMED or go to www.EyeMed.com. Download your EyeMed ID Card here.
The Basix Dental Savings Program contracts with dentists who will charge a reduced fee to students covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan. Please note that the Dental Savings Program is not dental insurance; it is a discount plan. Savings can be as high as 50% depending upon the type of service received and the dentist providing the service. The student must pay for the services received at the time of service to receive the discounted rate.
To take advantage of these dental discounts:
- Make an appointment with a contracted dentist; search for providers at www.basixstudent.com.
- Make sure the dental office understands that you have access to the Basix program. We list an administrative contact person for each dentist to help clear up any confusion on the spot. We don't issue a separate identification card for the Basix program. The dentist's office may ask for your health plan identification card to make sure you have access to the program (see “How to Access Your Anthem Student Advantage Insurance Card” section below on this webpage). If the office needs to check eligibility, call Gallagher Student at the phone number listed on your insurance card.
- Remember, you must pay for the services you receive at the time of service, so make sure you understand what forms of payment the dentist accepts (check, credit card, etc.).
Alternatively, students may enroll into a separate dental plan with Delta Dental Care HMO during their open enrollment period in September and January. For information on the Delta Dental Care HMO plan, please visit here. for benefit and coverage information. Please note that the Delta Dental plan is an HMO plan and not a PPO plan—students must go to dental providers that accept this insurance.
