Hometown: Highlands Ranch, CO

High School:  Arapahoe High School

Major(s)/Minor(s): Mechanical Engineering

Born and raised in Highlands Ranch, CO, Matthew Becker graduated from Arapahoe High School with highest honors. With a passion for community service, he participated in his student council, being elected class president for three years before serving as student body president his senior year. Student council allowed him to combine school service with the broader community, leading annual events like a week of fundraising in support of Make-A-Wish Colorado. Beyond this, Matthew served as a Link Crew commissioner, heading a course focused on the pursuit and inclusion of new freshmen. He also served as vice president of Arapahoe’s National Honor Society chapter, encouraging involvement outside of the classroom. Matthew’s most fond memories of high school stem from the fellowship among his weekly small group. Each summer they travelled to Missouri’s Camp Barnabas, serving one-on-one with special needs children and adults. He enjoyed running cross country and track throughout high school, serving as a senior captain of the cross country team. He finds great joy running and hiking, especially appreciating Colorado’s mountains when he skis each winter. In addition to the Johnson program, Matthew is a part of the Daniels Fund scholarship program and looks forward to pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Santa Clara. Matthew hopes to pursue a career in business, combining his passion for people with his interest in engineering.
