Jalen Paige graduated from Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, Washington, a community that instilled within him the passion for leadership and service he has today. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age nine, Jalen has never let the condition prevent him from living a normal life. Throughout his community and school, Jalen found multiple opportunities to carry out this passion. He worked with his school’s Muslim Student Association to deliver care packages to local refugees. As a member of his school’s leadership program, he was able to contribute to several events within his community. Jalen played goalkeeper for his school during his four years there. He was also an active member of his school’s Key Club and National Honors Society, as well as the computer science club. He worked specifically at his high school to emphasize the importance of mental health by overseeing the Mental Health Week. Jalen will continue to carry this passion and energy into his life as a Bronco at SCU. He is studying computer science in hopes of creating a better world through improved access to technology and the internet.
