Returner Application Period
Current Neighborhood Unit residents who wish to return to their current NU must apply during the returner application period. To receive priority placement, at least 50% of the current residents in the unit must apply to return. Students may apply as an individual or create a roommate group.
Preferred Period
Students who submit their applications by the preferred application period deadline but do not receive a Neighborhood Unit assignment may transfer their applications to the Junior and Senior Housing Application to participate in open room selection for the University Villas, subject to eligibility and space availability.
Limited Availability
Neighborhood Unit housing is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee a housing assignment. Students who submit their applications by the preferred application period deadline but do not receive a Neighborhood Unit assignment may elect to join the preferred-period waitlist. Historically, Housing has been able to accommodate all students on this waitlist.
Students who apply during the rolling application period who are placed on a waitlist will only be placed after the preferred period waitlist has been exhausted, and may not secure on-campus housing due to limited availability.
Summer Bridge
Current Neighborhood Unit residents who wish to remain in their current housing assignment for the 2027–2028 academic year may extend their housing contract to cover the summer period.
Summer Bridge is not available to:
- New Neighborhood Unit applicants
- Current Neighborhood Unit residents who will not return to the Neighborhood Units for the 2027–2028 academic year
- Current Neighborhood Unit residents who wish to move to a different NU assignment for the 2027–2028 academic year
Junior & Seniors who are not eligible for the NU Summer Bridge may apply for summer housing at Casa Italiana residence hall.
