SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 7, 2015 — Santa Clara University ranked among the top 25 schools for career placement and among the 200 schools that provide superior return on students' educational expense,  according to Colleges That Pay You Back, a new book by college test-preparation and ranking company Princeton Review.

The Top 25 career-placement ranking was based on students’ ratings of career services at their school and on PayScale.com’s median starting and mid-career salary information.  SCU ranked number 23 on the list.

The 200 best value colleges were chosen based on Princeton Review’s measure of “return on education,” which combines ratings for academic excellence with salary, placement, and student-satisfaction survey ratings for post-college career success from each institution.  The rankings and methodology can be found at Princeton Review's website.

Santa Clara University also was noted for awarding among the most degrees and having the most students enrolled in majors identified by PayScale.com as having the highest starting and mid-career salaries. The majors for which Santa Clara was noted include management information systems, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, and electrical engineering.  The median starting salaries for graduates from those fields ranged from $53,800 to $65,300, while Santa Clara’s overall median starting salary for new graduates was listed as $53,300.

Mid-career salaries, which measure alumni pay at least 10 years after graduation, ranged from $91,100 to $106,000 in the majors for which SCU was ranked by Princeton Review, and $110,000 for the University overall.

Santa Clara’s presence on the list was also spotlighted in a Today Show segment featuring Princeton Review’s author Robert Franek.
